2014 Update

Dear agarwood aficionados,

It has been some time since I have been active with Oud Impressions, and so it is high time for me to post an update.

Regarding reviews, I have received samples of a good number of Oud oils that I am still spending time with before writing a review. These oils in particular are so complex that I have had to spend more time with them than oils in the past. We have seen the release of many great Indian, Cambodian, Thai, and Papuan oils, so many that each new release now has the challenge to continually distinguish itself from its predecessors. So far, I have been pleased to find that each oil maintains a unique integrity and continues to reveal nuances not previously known. Perhaps this is the wonder of agarwood oil–that each oil will always have its own unique character, despite region, distillation, and grade of materials. Speaking especially in terms of “artisanal” grade Oud oils–no batch is ever the same.

Anticipate reviews for Purple Kinam, Kambodi Kadeem, Kyara LTD: Port Moresby, Oud Al-Kaabah, Assam 3000, and a surprise oil. Presently, I have been spending the most time with Kambodi Kadeem, and will post a review once I feel I have gotten to know the oil sufficiently.

Regarding perfumes, I have made a few perfumes that I have not released or formally launched. I expect to release these soon. Those who are eager for more information before a formal launch are welcome to contact me.

And finally, on a more solemn note, I have decided to let go of some legendary Oud oils in my private collection, purely for financial reasons. I am now beginning studies in both Ayurvedic and Tibetan Medicine, and in order to support these endeavors will need to sacrifice a few of my favorite Oud oils. Luckily, the new releases keep my optimism high for the future of Oud and high-quality distillations, making it possible to transcend the apparent loss of some of these classics in my collection. If you are seriously interested in purchasing one or more of these oils, please contact me through the Contact Form on this website. I will reply the same day with details on the oils and pricing. Please only serious inquiries and offers. International inquiries are also welcome.

Blessings,

New Order Form

Dear readers, I am pleased to announce the addition of an Order Form to the Oud Impressions Shop. Whenever you want to place an order from the Shop, simply click on the “Order From” from the drop down menu and choose the item you would like to order. There are four listed fields: Oud oils, Sandalwood, Perfumes, and Deer Musk. Select your choice and choose “None” for any fields you do not intend to order from. For ease of navigation, a link to the Order Form will be provided with every listing in the Shop as well. The option to order samples has also been integrated into this order form.

Recent additions to the Shop include two beautiful Sandalwood oils: A 10yrs Aged Mysore Sandalwood and a unique Hawaiian Sandalwood. Soon to be added is santalum album from Sri Lanka.

The Oud Impressions Shop will also soon be carrying pure Tibetan Musk grains soaking in Aged Mysore Sandalwood oil. Please note I will only be able to ship Sandalwood oil with grains within the USA. International customers can inquire about musk-infused Mysore Sandalwood without grains.

Coming soon are more reviews of recently released and yet-to-be released oils from Ensar Oud, as well as reviews of Oud oils from Agar Aura, and Oudimentary.

The Shop

Dear readers,

I am happy to announce the addition of a Shop to Oud Impressions. This blog is now expanding beyond its initial premises and becoming my creative outlet for all things olfactory. In addition to writing reviews of Oud oils and Oud perfumes, I am hoping to offer a more tangible form of inspiration in the form of my own Oud-based perfumes and Attars. These can be found in the new Oud Impressions Shop. Also available in the Shop, from time to time, will be Oud oils that I have decided to sell from my own private collection.

I have also added a “perfumes” category to the blog where I intend to post reviews of Oud-based perfumes. Ensar Oud’s Borneo Zen, Pink Papua, and Thai Tabac are soon to be the first reviews in this new category, followed by Profumo’s Oud Caravan.

But amidst all this talk of perfumes, I mustn’t forget the root of my inspiration–vintage Oud oils. Coming soon are reviews of the much acclaimed Oud Sultani and Kyara de Kalbar, so stay tuned…
